Time Bank
Time Banking is the idea that everyone has something of value to contribute to the community, and that not all goods and services have to cost money. When you spend an hour doing something for another Time Bank member, you earn a Time Dollar. Later, you can spend that Time Dollar to receive an hour of another member's time for something you need.
Transition Carrboro-Chapel Hill was just about to launch a Time Bank when we discovered that one already exists in our area. First in Families North Carolina (FIFNC), a Durham nonprofit whose goal is to support people with developmental disabilities and their families, started its Time Bank in June 2010. So we are encouraging Transition members to join FIFNC's Time Bank.
To join or learn more about the Time Bank, visit FIFNC's Time Bank website or Facebook page.
Join FIFNC for a Potluck Dinner on November 29th at 6pm at the Pacifica Cohousing Community Common House in Carrboro! Bring a potluck dish and earn 1 Time Dollar! Bring friends to share in the Time Banking movement! Pacifica is on Viburnum Way, which is at the end of Hanna Street in Carrboro (click here for map/directions).
